MicrovoltThe Microvolt T-Wave Alternans test is non-invasive, diagnostic test used to determine whether someone is at increased risk for sudden cardiac arrest. This test is frequently used in individuals who have suffered from a prior heart attack, congestive heart failure, or blackout spells. There are a number of other indications as well. In most situations, the test takes less than 30 minutes to perform. Following the placement of fourteen electrode sensors the patient is directed to begin walking on a treadmill to raise the heart rate to a specified rate range. Upon test completion, the system analyzes the data and provides the Alternans Report Classification, which the physician will review and provide an immediate interpretation. |
